Clevedon Town manager Alex White says you could not find a "more loyal clubman" than Callum Kingdon after playing his 300th appearance for the club last Saturday.

Kingdon reached the landmark in the Seasiders 1-0 victory at Shepton Mallet in the Toolstation Western League Premier after Syd Camper's 50th goal late on secured all three points.

"An amazing achievement and what better way to mark it than a game and a performance like that, White said.

"It seems like every five mins another 50 appearances pass by for Cal!"

Kingdom holds the most appearances out of the current Clevedon side, ahead of the likes of Glen Hayer (236), Camper (192) and Elliot Nicholson (185).

The current record is Steve Lester, who made 441 appearances for Town.

"He is Mr Clevedon, you will not find a more loyal clubman than Cal and everyone loves him to bits," White added.

"I can’t imagine a Clevedon side without him and I think he’s arguably having his best season yet with us.

"He’s still not at his prime either and there’s more to come from him, so, congratulations to him it’s a fantastic milestone."

Kingdon signed for Clevedon from Winterbourne United in November 2015 in their first season back in the Toolstation Western League after relegation from the Southern League.

When he arrived The Seasiders had only one point from their first 12 games but he was successful in leading the team away from a second successive relegation.

His Clevedon debut was at Shepton Mallet on December 5, 2015. a 4-3 defeat and he had to wait until February 2016 to celebrate his first victory, a 3-2 win against Hallen at the Everyone Active Stadium as the team started to recover.

Kingdon has scored only four in his Clevedon career so far, all away from home at Wellington, Cribbs, Crediton and Mousehole.

“Before I signed for the Seasiders, I had always played regularly but I didn’t think about reaching 300 games," Kingdon said.

"I just take it from game to game and I don’t really set myself targets, but yes it would be great to reach Steve Lester’s 441 appearances!”

"I’ve always been a defender and no I don’t score many goals and that’s because I rarely get out my own half! But I can remember the last one at Mousehole which was a good one! I’m not worried about when the next one will come and I just concentrate on doing my job at the back.”
