In a reverse of their home defeat, Clevedon Town grabbed a last-minute winner from captain Syd Camper’s 50th goal on Callum Kingdon’s 300th appearance in their 1-0 win at Shepton Mallet in the Toolstation Western League Premier last Saturday.

Both sides missed early chances forcing both goalkeepers in action, James Dunn keeping out several efforts from Jacob Sloggett and Tom Roberts doing well to push Camper’s shot round the post.

A keenly fought battle between two well matched sides, became increasingly scrappy. The decisive moment of the game came in last minute of normal time.

Dunn produced a fantastic leap to prevent Ethan Witchell’s great right-footed shot powering into the far top corner, but Clevedon broke free and when Freddie King was brought down, he got up and put the resulting free-kick into the box for Camper to head home.

The Seasiders then safely saw out eight minutes of added time to record successive wins.

Clevedon visit Street on Friday (7:45pm) before the big North Somerset derby against Nailsea & Tickenham at 1:30pm on Boxing Day.
