LONG-SERVING members of H M Coastguard from the Portishead station have received jubilee medals in recognition of their dedication to public service.

Chairman of Portishead Town Council, John Clark, presented the medals to the coastguards at a belated ceremony in the Gordano Suite at Clarence House in Portishead. Station manager Barry Darbon said: “We are all very dedicated to the public service we provide and while we ask for no thanks, it is great to be honoured and recognised in this way.”

The coastguards had been due to receive their medals in June but cancelled the ceremony after the sudden death of Pete Chapman, one of their team members who was also due to receive the award.
