AFTER weeks of hard work, pupils at St Mary’s Primary school in Portbury have completed a wall hanging for their link school in South Africa.
The work of art, depicting places in and around the village of Portbury, will be sent to Zithulele School where the majority of pupils are orphans and there are up to 80 students in each class.
The link was forged as a result of a Youth in Action project in 2009, organised by the Portishead based charity, Za Foundation.
St Mary’s is one of 16 schools in and around North Somerset which, through the Za Foundation, now have links with schools in some of the poorest, rural areas of South Africa.
