THE winners of a Portishead literary competition have been presented with prizes and certificates.
Gordano School students in years seven and eight entered the Rotary Club of Portishead’s 2012 competition for creative writing, presenting poetry or prose themed around the forthcoming London Olympics.
First prize in the poetry category went to James Robinson, Alexa Gowland was second and Emma Steel, Ruth Adams and Toby Charman were highly commended.
For the prose contest, Tom Bishop was awarded first prize, Hannah Clay second and Alys Withers was highly commended.
Club president Robin Ogilvie presented the awards to the winners who will now enter into the county heats.
