GRUFFALOS and mammoths met mermaids and fairies at a Portishead school as it launched book week.
High Down Infant School held a Julia Donaldson day, inviting pupils to dress as characters from the author’s popular books, including The Gruffalo.
The week will involve an action-packed programme of book-related activities which will include the children returning to school in their pyjamas for a bedtime story.
