STUDENTS from Gordano School’s gardening team are hoping to increase their fruit harvest this year thanks to Portishead in Bloom’s (PiB) community links programme.
PiB chairman Sandy Tebbutt presented the pupils with a gift of fruit bushes, raspberry canes and strawberry plants to enhance the fruit and vegetable plots at the Portishead school.
The youngsters are hoping the bushes will produce an abundance of fruit to add to their supply of produce, which they will sell to staff to help them buy more tools and gardening equipment.
A cold frame or small greenhouse is top of the list of future investments.
The team meets on Tuesdays after school and is hoping more pupils will join them in the coming months.
