A PORTISHEAD hairdresser has picked up two British championship titles.

Emma Phillips, a stylist at Robert John, came first in both the British Senior Ladies and the British Bridal Championships at the NEC in Birmingham on November 17.

Clutching her awards the 21-year-old said: “Months and months of hard work have paid off and I am thrilled to have picked up two British titles.”

Emma is no stranger to the competition world. She entered the British Championships junior section in 2012 when she was awarded second place in the hair up category. In the past two years she has also entered regional contests, collecting trophies for second and third places. She added: “I knew if I kept working hard I could achieve a first place but to achieve it in the British Championships in two categories is a dream come true. I can’t wait to start training for the next competition.”

Robert John returned home from Birmingham with more good news. Junior stylist Shannon Lloyd, aged 18, was awarded second place in the Junior Ladies Championships and 16-year-old Lucy Routledge came third in the First Timers competition. Both, like Emma, work at the Portishead salon.
