PORTISHEAD Air Cadets can now study for their flying qualifications and training with the help of new laptop computers donated by a town business.

Six laptops have been given to 2494 (Portishead) Squadron by businessman Ian Bale, owner of software development company Hazardous Frog Ltd, based at the town’s Kestrel Court.

Ian, whose daughter Megan is an air cadet, said: “The cadets announced plans to raise money to replace their desktop computers with laptops, so they could put them away when not in use to give them much-needed extra space at their headquarters in Station Road. I think the organisation provides a great opportunity for teenagers, so I decided that I could offer the cadets a few laptops on behalf of my company.”

The 2494 (Portishead) Sqd Air Cadets has been established in Portishead for 41 years and currently has 45 enrolled cadets, both girls and boys between the ages of 13 and 20. Teenagers can learn to fly both gliders and Fixed Wing Aircraft, as well as participating in a wide range of adventure activities including the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

Parade nights are Mondays and Wednesdays. To find out more visit www.portisheadaircadets.co.uk
