A NEW ward councillor has been elected for Wrington.

Thomas Joseph Harrison Daw, from the Green Party, was elected yesterday (Thursday, November 16) in a by-election following the resignation of Cllr Steve Hogg.

The Ballot papers were counter immediately after polling stations closed at 10pm.

Here was the outcome:

  • DAW, Thomas Joseph Harrison, Green Party - 336;
  • LISTER, Steven James, Labour Party - 112;
  • LOUDEN-COOKE, Samantha Anne, Liberal Democrats - 283;
  • TALL, Annabel Emma Elizabeth, The Conservative Party Candidate - 297.

Speaking at the time of his resignation, Cllr Hogg said: "Well folks, that’s a wrap. After four and a bit years serving as your district councillor, I have written to North Somerset Council today to tender my resignation.

"Despite the challenges that come with the role, I have loved my time as DC for Wrington, Redhill, Butcombe, Cleeve & Brockley, and briefly as cabinet member for highways and transport. I have especially enjoyed helping residents with their issues and worries, from the very smallest to the very biggest."
