A 39-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with the murder of a 64-year-old woman in Portishead.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: "A 39-year-old man has been charged for murder following the death of a 64-year-old woman in Portishead.
"Gavin Nash, of Tansy Lane, will appear at Bristol Magistrates' Court tomorrow (Friday, June 30)."
A murder investigation began after the woman died earlier this week (Tuesday, June 27) on Tansy Lane.
Police have confirmed that they believe this to be an isolated incident. However, members of the force will be in the area to give the community peace of mind.
The police force has confirmed it has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior police contact.
