POLICE who have launched a murder investigation after the death of a woman in Portishead believe it is "an isolated incident."
The investigation began after a woman died earlier this week (Tuesday, June 27) on Tansy Lane.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the woman's death.

In a video posted on Twitter, he said: "A cordon remains in place today while we carry out our enquiries, including a full forensic examination of the scene.
"Formal identification and a forensic post-mortem will occur in due course.
"We understand that this is an incredibly shocking incident for the community and an upsetting time for many people.
"I would like to thank the understanding of the community at this time while our investigation takes place.
"We believe that this is an isolated incident, however there will be an increased police presence in the local community over the coming days, providing reassurance to the community.
"Should anyone have any concerns, I would encourage you to speak directly to any of my officers."
The police force has confirmed that they have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior police contact.
