A FORMAL application for landlord’s consent to site a skate park at the Lake Grounds in Portishead has been submitted to North Somerset Council.
Members of the Portishead Skatepark Project have requested a 25-year lease with break clauses at five-year intervals.
In addition to the location and design of the skatepark, the application includes full details of the materials to be used, proposed landscaping, provision of CCTV and the development of a youth engagement strategy. Proposals for the ongoing management, maintenance and funding are also included.
Planning permission has already been granted for the facility at the Lake Grounds which received backing from the police and town council. More than 450 people supported the planning application against 31 objections.
Members of the Portishead Skatepark Project have been searching for a suitable site for a new skatepark in the town for several years.
