PORTISHEAD beach clean-ups were hailed a success with hardy volunteers turning out to lend a hand.
More than 80 locals braved the elements to join the Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project at Battery Point to gather debris from along the main seafront on May 6.
Then on May 13 the Marine Conservation Society’s (MCS) Big Beach Clean Up saw local volunteers join a team at Redcliffe Bay to remove more rubbish from the coastline.
More than 175kg of litter was collected along with two car wheels, a bin and a bicycle.
Pupils from St Joseph’s Primary School in Bristol Road also got stuck into the clean-ups, helping out during the MCS event at Sand Bay on Friday.
