CHURCH stalls have been held at local markets to help raise funds to maintain an historical building.
St Nicholas Church in Portishead launched its Tenner a Tile campaign earlier this year to help raise the 725,000 needed to provide a new church roof. The campaign urges members of the local community to sponsor a tile for 10 to help the cause.
A spokesman for the project said: “Market stalls are a great way to reach members of the public and ask them to support the maintenance of this wonderful building which is part of the town’s heritage.”
More than 275,000 has already been raised.
Anyone wishing to support the campaign can find out more at the church office at the St Barnabas Centre in West Hill.
