Chance to win a 6ft Christmas tree from Shopland Sawmills
PUBLISHED: 17:00 28 November 2018
One of Clevedon’s oldest family businesses will treat two families to a homegrown Christmas tree this festive season.
Shopland Sawmills, in Old Street, will give away two six-foot Nordmann Fir Christmas trees – totalling £45 each – this year.
The family has been in Clevedon for more than 250 years and has been trading in the town since 1840.
This year the business decided it wanted give back to the local community by offering up the trees through a competition.
James Shopland said: “We hope to bring a lot of happiness to the winner and their family this Christmas.
“As Clevedon’s oldest family business, we welcome the opportunity to thank the community for supporting us over the years by giving away two of our beautiful trees to the lucky winners.”
The business has been at its Old Street site for 120 years and James is the most recent incumbent of the sawmills, having taken over the reins in April from his father, David Shopland.
As well as selling fencing and timber products to retail and trade customers, Shoplands added trees to its range six years ago and now sells hundreds every December.
The Nordmann Firs are a non-needle dropping variety which has now become the nation’s favourite type of Christmas tree.

All entries must be in by 10am on December 7.
If the winners are from Clevedon, Shopland Sawmills is offering free delivery but winners from outside the town will need to be able to collect their prize.
Usual Archant rules apply and the editor’s decision is final.
By entering this competition you are agreeing to be contacted by Archant and Shoplands Sawmills regarding the prize.
