LA Cinema will showcase this year’s Oscar-winning best film.

The Shape Of Water was the star turn at this year’s Hollywood ceremony, with director Guillermo del Toro also scooping a major prize.

British actress Sally Hawkins stars Elisa whose life turns upside down one day.

Working in a US laboratory in the early 1960s, Elisa unearths a classified secret – a mysterious creature from South America which lives underwater.

She strikes a bond with it, but must soon fight for both their safety and freedom.

The film will be screened at Long Ashton’s community hall, in Keedwell Hill, this weekend.

The Shape Of Water will start at 8pm on Saturday night, but doors open 45 minutes before for those who want to pick up a hot, cold or alcholoic drink in advance.

Tickets, priced £5, will be available from the village Post Office or on the door.
