Alan Bennett's drama The Lady In The Van has opened at the Theatre Royal Bath.
Sara Kestleman will star in the funny and poignant drama about a woman who parks her van outside Bennett’s house and does not leave for more than a decade.
The true story about Bennett’s unusual and cantankerous neighbour Miss Shepherd is packed with one-liners and heart-warming moments and was turned into a film, starring Maggie Smith.
Kestleman, who plays the eccentric van owner, has been treading the boards for more than 50 years, taking on a plethora of leading roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
The Lady In The Van will be at the Theatre Royal Bath, in Sawclose, until September 2 at 7.30pm. There will be 2.30pm matinees on Thursdays and Saturdays, excluding tomorrow.
* Tickets, priced £15-35.50, are available from www.theatreroyal.org.uk or 01225 448844.
