Tobacco Factory Theatre

THE enchanting story of Hansel and Gretel will be appearing at Bristol’s Tobacco Factory following a partnership with an award-winning theatre company.

Transformed into a magical winter wonderland, the theatre’s audience will be able to witness the classic tale mixed with fun live music and captivating storytelling, performed by the company New International Encounter (NIE).

In the middle of a cold, dark forest Hansel and Gretel are lost and hungry and catch a glimpse of a tiny cottage through the trees.

Its roof is made of gingerbread, the walls are made of chocolate cake, the door is made of boiled sweets and the windows of clear sugar glaze. Not knowing what’s inside, the audience will follow Hansel and Gretel into the forest to find out.

Leading up to the 200th anniversary of the publication of The Brothers Grimm, this new production will draw on the European roots of the tale and NIE’s multinational cast adds a great deal to this.

Hansel and Gretel will be at the theatre from December 5 to January 13 at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £7-15, are available from the box office on 0117 9020344.
