An amateur drama group’s latest show will be performed in Clevedon throughout next week.

Clevedon Light Opera Club will perform Roger and Hammerstein’s Carousel at Princes Hall in Princes Road at 7.30pm from Tuesday to March 17.

Set in a coastal village in the US state of Maine during the 19th century, the show follows the relationship between loud-mouthed Billy Bigelow and naive millworker Julie Jordan.

When she falls pregnant Billy loses his job and is persuaded to be an accomplice to a robbery as a way of providing for his family.

Things go wrong and Julie is left alone but Billy is given one final chance to correct his mistake.

Despite his rough around the edges persona, Billy instils a sense of hope and dignity in both Julie and their child.

Tickets, priced £6-11, are available here.
