Portishead Film will screen The Big Sick.

A heart-warming romantic comedy film will be shown in Portishead this week, certain to delight with humour and charm.

The Big Sick will be screened by Portishead Film at the Jubilee Hall, in Slade Road, on Friday night at 8pm.

The film focuses on Pakistan-born aspiring comedian Kumail Nanjiani and his love for a postgraduate student called Emily.

The pair connect after one of his stand-up comedy sets, and what they thought would be a brief fling blossoms into something much more serious.

But the pair endure ups and downs before Emily is struck with a life-threatening illness, and follows Kumail’s heart-wrenching wait by her bedside.

Despite the grave situation being endured by Emily and Kumail, the film remains funny throughout and promises to charm the audience in Portishead.

Tickets, priced £5, will be available to purchase on the door on Friday evening.
