KING Rat arrives in Portishead next week as Portishead Players’ prepare to stage the popular pantomime Dick Whittington.

King Rat is threatening to take over London and only the poor but brave Dick Whittington and his trusty feline sidekick Tiddles can stop the rodent’s quest for domination. Dick’s adventure takes him from the East End of London to faraway shores before the final showdown with the villainous King Rat and his henchrats Nip and Tuck. But will the hero triumph, become Lord Mayor of London and live happily ever after?

Dick Whittington, directed by Kevin Harrington, will be staged at Somerset Hall in High Street on December 8, 9 and 11 at 7.30pm. There will also be a 2pm matinee performance on December 11.

Tickets, priced £8-10, are available from Morgan Westley and Mother Nature in High Street or on the door.
