Green Book

Oscar-winning film, Green Book, will be screened by Portishead Film at Jubilee Hall on Friday.

Set in the 60s, a working class Italian-American bouncer, Tony Vallelonga, becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist, Don Shirley, on a tour of venues through the American South.

The unlikely pair start their trek armed with The Green Book, a travel guide for safe travel through America's racial segregation.

In the beginning the snobbishly, erudite pianist and crudely practical bouncer can barely get along with their clashing attitudes to life and ideals.

However, as they witness and endure America's appalling injustices on the road they discover a newfound respect for each other's talents and start to face them together.

The heart-warming film will start at 8pm at the hall in Slade Road, with refreshments available 30 minutes before.

Tickets, priced £5, are available on the door.
