A historical love story film will be shown in Portishead later this week.

Portishead Film will screen Cold War on Friday at 8pm at Jubilee Hall, in Slade Road.

Set in Poland and France during the Cold War from the late 1940s until the 1960s, the story follows a musical director, Wiktor Warski, who discovers a young singer (Zula Licho), exploring their subsequent love story over the years.

With vastly different backgrounds and temperaments, they are fatefully mismatched and yet condemned to each other.

The film, which was loosely inspired by the lives of director Pawel Pawlikowski's parents, is a tale of a couple separated by politics, character flaws and unfortunate twists of fate.

Refreshments will be available to purchase 30 minutes before the showing begins at Jubilee Hall, from 7.30pm.

Tickets, priced £5, can be purchased on the door before the film gets underway.
