PORTISHEAD Film will be showing Another Year on December 1.

The film by acclaimed British filmmaker Mike Leigh, warmly observes a married couple and their family.

Thes a wisdom and restraint to the film and a confidence of purpose mean it is considered Leigh’s most mature work to date.

It follows a year in the life of a very sociable 60-something couple, with Leigh focusing on their interaction with friends and family, mostly in their home, over lunch, dinner or a drink at their kitchen table.

The film is an examination of the pleasures and jealousies, disappointments and insecurities, destroyed dreams and rekindled hopes that make up our daily existence.

Another Year will be screened at the Jubilee Hall in Slade Road, Portishead. Doors open at 7.30pm for refreshments with an 8pm start.

Prices on the door are £5 or £4.50 concession
