Choral songs from years gone by will be performed at a church in Portishead next week when a police choir takes to the stage.

The Avon and Somerset Male Voice Choir will be putting on the music concert on October 19.

Money will be raised for Marie Curie and Rotary-backed charities through ticket sales.

The choir's repertoire covers a wide range, from medieval and classical choral music, ballads and operatic choruses to arrangements of popular songs and songs from stage and film musicals.

The police choir enjoys a strong reputation for its quality of performance for which it has been awarded numerous cups and certificates at choral competitions.

Their latest concert to take place in Portishead will be held at the Methodist church, in High Street, starting at 7.30pm on October 19.

Tickets, priced £10, can be obtained from Portishead Motorcare, in High Street, or by calling 01275 393340 or 07791 104958. Any remaining tickets can be bought on the door.
