Pill’s annual music festival will draw to a close this weekend with a performance by a rising Manchester blues rock band.
Federal Charm will bring their powerhouse live performance to Pill Memorial Club in Lodway on Saturday at 8pm.
Federal Charm’s popular live show also allows the band members to showcase their outstanding artistic talents, such as a version of Lowell Fulson’s Reconsider which sees their blues abilities come to the fore, before hurtling back into their traditional rip-roaring style.
The band’s mix of swaggering riffs, raw vocals and slide flourishes sees them combine retro sound inspired by classic 1970s artists with a modern twist, leading to critics hailing the band’s debut album, Federal Charm, as one of the most cutting edge in recent times.
The penultimate act of the village’s festival will take place at St George’s Church in Church Road at 2pm, when the Pill Festival Band will perform a recital with a selection of superb soloists.
Tickets for the Federal Charm gig cost £5 from the Pill Post Office in Baltic Place or £7 on the door. Entry to the recital on Saturday afternoon is free.
