The Original Rude Boy will be heading to Bristol this weekend.

Neville Staple, the front man of The Specials Fun Boy Three and Special Beat, will be performing at Fleece on Saturday night.

His tour is celebrating his 40-year career in the industry.

Neville said: “The way we brought ska to the mainstream was by mixing Jamaican music with the English style, which at the time was punk.

“The movement helped to transcend and defuse racial tensions in Thatcher-era Britain.

“The actual black and white chequered imagery of 2 Tone has become almost as famous as the music itself.”

It promises to be an emotional occasion as Staple will be paying tribute to his grandson Fidel who was killed earlier this year after being stabbed in the stomach.

Staple will be on stage at The Fleece on Saturday evening at 7pm.

Tickets, priced £19.70, are available by calling 01179 450996.
