AWARD-WINNING singer-songwriter Laura Marling is playing at Bristol’s Colston Hall on May 5.

The gig forms part of Marling’s spring headline UK and Ireland tour and will promote her new album Short Movie, which will be released on March 23.

Marling has been living in Los Angeles for the past two years after winning the Brit award for best female in 2011.

The new album is her first to be completed without a producer and was inspired by her time in America and her feelings of being ‘desperately lost in translation’.

Her debut album entitled Alas, I Cannot Swim, plus her second and her fourth albums, were all nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2008, 2010, and 2013.

Marling has been recognised as one of the most talented song-writers of her generation, and is often cited as being a central force behind the upsurge in folk music’s popularity during recent years

Laura Marling’s show at
Bristol’s Colston Hall will start at 7pm on May 5.

Tickets, priced £21.50, are available from www.colstonhall.org/shows/laura-marling-2
