PORTISHEAD’s St Nicholas Church proved to be a perfect venue for an evening concert earlier this month.

People packed the Nore Road church to welcome the 50 strong ladies choir, Voices in Harmony, in an event that helped raise funds for work carried out by Portishead churches, at home and overseas.

The choir delighted its audience with its music and violin duo Owen and Lyn Morgan added variety to the programme, while baritone Nigel Hopkins was another definite crowd pleaser.

The concert finished with a rousing rendition of the Welsh National Anthem ‘Hen Wlad fy Nhadau’ which had the Welsh folk in the audience singing along.

The social committee of Portishead Church of England who organised the event, said they were extremely pleased with the success of the evening and hoped St Nicholas Church would be used to host more concerts in the future.
