The concert will be held tomorrow (Friday).

The Roaring Fork Wind Quintet will be performing in Portishead this week and one of the band’s members lives in the town.

They will be making their first live appearance together in North Somerset, despite consisting of players from the West of England.

The quintet formed seven years ago in 2010 and their oboist Jennifer Mears lives in Portishead.

A band spokesman said: “The concert has a French theme including pieces by composers such as Poulenc and Arrieu, ideal music for a balmy summer’s evening.

“Everybody is most welcome to attend, particularly if you are new to classical music or have never heard a chamber group such as a wind quintet perform before.”

The performance will begin at 7.30pm at Portishead Methodist Church, in High Street, on Friday.

Tickets, priced £5-8, will be available to buy on the door.
