Award-winning musicians at Nailsea Folk Club

TALENTED musicians will be causing a storm at Nailsea Folk Club this week.

Ewan Robertson and Rua Macmillan will be playing at the Ring O’ Bells in St Marys Grove on March 25.

The event is part of a double headline tour by the two BBC Radio Scotland Traditional Musician of the Year award winners.

Between them they have amassed several awards and nominations for their fine music.

Ewan, who plays with Breabach, won the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year award in 2008. With his band, he also won a Cletic Connections award for best newcomer in 2005 and was nominated for the Scottish Folk Band of the Year Award in 2007 and 2010.

Ewan is know for his unique driving guitar accompaniment and disarming humour on stage.

Rua, who is also a member of the Paul McKenna Band, has toured extensively throughout Europe and the US. Rua won the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year award in 2009 and was awarded best up and coming act with his band in 2009. Rua will be performing with his trio - made up of Adam Brown on bodhran and Tia Files on guitar.

Ewan and Rua will be showcasing material from their latest albums before beginning their full UK tour later this month.

The musicians will be performing at 8pm and tickets are £10.
