The Olive Tree
A stirring story about a girl’s relationship with her grandfather will be shown in Portishead this week.
The Olive Tree begins with Alma at her family’s unappealing poultry farm.
However, in a flashback, the audience learns about her childhood spent with her grandfather Ramon at his olive vineyard. But his passion and business is sold from underneath him by his children who conclude a lucrative deal for a restaurant to be built instead.
The move has a devastating impact on Ramon who becomes increasing isolated and suffers with depression and dementia. By the time the film starts, Ramon has not spoken for years.
But Alma makes a discovery which energises her relationship with her ailing grandfather.
The Olive Tree will be screened by Portishead Film on Friday at Jubilee Hall in Slade Road. Doors open ay 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
Tickets, priced £5, will be available on the door.
