Two showpiece events will entertain thousands of people this weekend.

Visitors to the Dickensian Fair in Wrington and Portishead’s Victorian Evening will feel like it is 1898 not 2018 as they enjoy a fine pre-Christmas tradition.

Both have become a fixture in their communities’ calendars and will no doubt prove hugely popular again this year.

Wrington’s High Street, around The Plough Inn, will be turned into a Dickensian wonderland tonight (Friday).

Stalls serving up warm treats and other bits and pieces will be open from 6.30pm.

The Victorian Evening, in Portishead’s High Street, is on Sunday afternoon with the fun beginning at 4pm.

The traditional Thursday night event has been moved to the weekend in the hope of gaining even more support from people living in the town.

Live performances will take place, alongside the usual mix of stalls and a lantern parade.
