Ashton Court in Bristol will host a dog friendly festival this summer

A dog-friendly festival is coming to Bristol’s Ashton Court and the Times is giving readers the chance to be there for free.

People can take their dogs to DogFest to watch the festival’s live performances and to take part in the have-a-go activities hosted by the event during the course of the weekend.

The Great Dog Walk is set to open the festival will be lead by Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick, who will take festival goers around Ashton Court next Saturday.

Bands set to perform on stage are Sour Kix from Surrey, alternative indie band Jack in a Box, and Scottish multi-instrumentalist Andy Williamson.

New this year is the Hound Hangout, where people and pets can meet a cast of doggy celebrities and Instagram famous pooches.

The Dog Activity Ring will feature the ShadowQuest Dog Display Team, where animals will perform tricks including abseiling stunts and a zip wire routine.

Dog lovers can get involved by enrolling their pets on the School-4-Dogs programme, which claims to be able to train even the most disobedient of pets.

A children’s play-area at the event will have an inflatable obstacle course, bungee trampolines and fairground rides.

Visitors will also have the chance to explore the food- talls selling ice cream, carvery grills and toasted sandwiches at the festivals food village.

The show will run from 9.30am-6pm on June 23 and 9.30-5pm on June 24.
