Zimmers took over at the top of the Wrington Vale Billiards League after beating Backwell B 4-0.

ZIMMERS have taken over leadership of the Wrington Vale Billiards League following their 4-0 whitewash of Backwell B.

Roy Jenkins had to concede 200 points on handicap to Dennis Mansfield and Dennis almost made this count as Roy only went in front right at the end to win 150-147.

In the second game, George Rowe was only four points behind at the 100 point mark, but was then unable to score a single point to go down by 50.

Bruce Bernard rolled back the years in the final game knocking in two fine breaks against Bob Selby, but again this was close as Bruce crossed the line by four points.

Backwell A go second after their demolition job on Congresbury. Alan Spear continued where he left off last week and apart from the early stages, was always in control against Dave Larner. With Alan scoring freely he soon wrapped up an 84 point win.

The pattern continued in the second game as Reuben Hurse struggled to get into his game against Derek Ellis. Derek knocked in two 30 breaks as he ran out an easy winner by over 100 points.

In the final game, Pete Wood scored at most visits to the table against Irving Prowse. Pete’s handicap advantage was too much for Irving to handle and his positive attitude gave him a 65 point win.

Previous leaders No Hopers drop to third place after a 4-0 defeat at Double Baulkers. After Dave Darling had opened up with a close win over Mark Wright, Mike Tozer started well against Tina Owen-Sevilton, but never really got into his stride. With Tina clearing her handicap early on and scoring steadily, she completed a 150-120 victory.

Darren Solomon got off to a good start against Brian with an early break of 21 and matching him with some good safety play. While Brian wasn’t making big breaks, he was scoring consistently and was able to clear his handicap just as Darren approached 120. With chances and form not going Darren’s way towards the end, Brian completed a 15 point win.

Breaks: Bruce Bernard 46, 29; Brian Harvey 42, 39, 38, 32; Roy Jenkins 40, 30; Derek Ellis 35, 32; Reuben Hurse 29; Tina Owen-Sevilton 24, 23*; Darren Solomon 21; Irving Prowse 20; Bob Selby 20.
