Pac Tri member Zara Davis wins speed windsurfing event in Sweden.
PAC TRI member Zara Davis indulged her other passion of speed windsurfing, where she returned to dominant form in the Swedish Speed Championships held in Klagshamn.
Zara missed the first Belgian round of the European Championship tour due to recovery from surgery on her thumb.
This was the second round of the ISWC European Championships, which will ultimately decide the King and Queen of Euro speedsailing and winning this event put her back on track for the title.
The location has a reputation for developing thermal winds and doubling what is forecast, but not on this occasion. The organisers tried everything to get a round of the competition in, sending the fleet out on the slightest breeze and even moving the whole event 30km away.
It was left until almost the last day when finally one round was possible, three heats were held from 6-9pm in the evening.
Overnight the wind increased to 30 knots plus, but by the morning, the wind had died again. This made the championship not only challenging, but also frustrating as the riders were constantly waiting for the wind.
Mercifully, the wind picked up again and they had two more counting rounds out of the four run. Zara managed three bullets in total, which gave her first place for this event and second place overall on the tour with three more events to go.
