The annual triangular competition between Long Ashton, Chew Stoke and West Backwell to commemorate Don Radford’s involvement in all three clubs was played at West Backwell on Sunday.

Despite a heavy shower halfway through the morning matches driving the players off the green, West Backwell returned four winning rinks when play resumed.

Long Ashton finished with two wins as Chew Stoke, the 2019 holders of the trophy, failed to record a win.

Blazing sunshine greeted the afternoon rinks with the competition heating up as well as Long Ashton beat the two West Backwell rinks against them.

Chew Stoke saved the day for West Backwell by recording their only rink win against Long Ashton and saved shots difference being used to determine the winners of the cup.

A really enjoyable day was had by all competitors in a fiercely competitive contest played in the spirit that Don engendered in all three clubs.

Martin Tibbs representing the outgoing champions handed the cup over to West Backwell Ladies captain Julie Ratcliffe and thanked West Backwell men's captain Roger Spragg for the excellent organisation throughout the day and no call-outs for his umpiring duties.
