WINSC Warriors enjoyed a tight match against the young team of C & C Banwell, with everyone having flashes of brilliance.

Winsc’ Pete Joiner had the game of the evening against C & C Banwell’s Hannah Cope, three legs at deuce saw Hannah squeeze through 12-10 in the fifth. Beth Atkinson, who has some excellent power shots played a good solid game overcoming Winsc’ Cath Smith in four.

Cath beat Hannah Cope in four in a contest that could have gone either way. Top scorer of the night was Jade Cope with wins over all three Warriors. The result depended on the doubles Smith and Joiner managed to edge out Atkinson and Hannah Cope for a 20-16 victory for Warriors.

Totterdown Daemons consolidated their top place in Division 2 with two winning matches, the first against Winsc Wayfarers 24-16. Bert Hiscock and Jason King both won their singles though losing games to Wayfarers’ Simon Kneeshaw, Sam Mullick and Phil Yates. Mike Summers beaten by Kneeshaw and Mullick beat Yates in five.

Daemons’ Jason King went through C & C Cobras without losing a point. Bert Hiscock also had three wins and was taken to four by John Barker and just beat Rick Hutchinson 11-8 in the fifth.

With success over Simon Thomas and Rich Hutchinson both in five games, Mike Summers lost to John Barker in four. Daemons’ 3-1 doubles win gave them the match 28-11.

Vets C with a game in hand over their nearest rivals C & C Cobras, had to settle for a draw after Rick Hutchinson and Simon Thomas’ 3-1 winning doubles over Garry Evry and Roger Norvill.

It was a good match for Evry with three singles wins with the loss of a game each to Thomas and John Barker. Vets C had to settle for a 19 all draw.

In Group A of the Archdale Cup, Winsc Rebels and Totterdown Flamingos started the night well, Rob Hansen (4) and Graham Cheeseman (3) having a close contest, Cheeseman taking them both 21-10 for Flamingos.

With the next two going to Rebels they gradually overcame the opposition. Dave Hunt (2) with three wins played the game of the evening against Cheeseman winning on 13 and 10. Rebels won 7-2 and as Group runners-up, will meet Winsc Renegades in a semi-final.

Winsc Warriors had a good winning result in their last Archdale match with a 7-2 result over C & C Banwell. Anne Baker (11) and John Cook (14) won all three. Banwell’s Leo Reid (16) won his first game on 19 against Cook. Reid and Jack Brent (16) played well to beat Warriors’ Margaret Parker (15). Alex Chandler, also 16, despite some close games had to be content with one game against Parker.
