Backwell Karate students were put through their paces and awarded certificates at the end of their course.

THE first Warriors’ course of the year at Backwell Karate came to a climax as a class of five to eight-year-old students were put through their paces and awarded Level 1 and Level 2 Bushido Warriors certificates.

Ten children from Nailsea to Portishead took part in a special eight week programme especially designed for their age group. After impressing their parents with their newfound skills in an end of course test, each child was presented with their Level 1 or Level 2 certificate, with three achieving an outstanding three star award.

The junior Warriors learned everything from bowing to basic kicks, punches, stances and partner work and are part of Backwell Karate’s support of the national Change For Life campaign, an NHS initiative to encourage people to eat well and move more.

Club instructor, Tim Griffiths said: “We’re delighted to continue to offer our specialist children’s karate course alongside our normal classes for older children and adults.

“Bushido Warriors introduces kids to fun, but disciplined exercise which builds confidence, helps develop attention and gets them moving, which is essential for all ages.”

Backwell Karate are currently accepting new members of all ages, including the next Bushido Warriors children’s course which starts on May 10. For more information visit www.backwellkarate.org
