Veteran members of Clevedon Tennis Club were in action, taking part in the club championships.

FOLLOWING on from the success of Clevedon Lawn Tennis Club’s championships, it was the veteran members who celebrated their wins last weekend.

The earlier rounds took place over the summer months and saw members compete against each other in a series of knockout matches, culminating in the finals for each of the vets (over-50) and vintage (over-60) categories.

The winners of the vets men’s doubles were Mark Elliott and Pete Griffiths, who beat Steve Vailes and Norman Thompson. In the vets ladies’ doubles, Brenda Plummer and Shirley Hyde took the title after winning against Doreen Bailey and Sue Norman.

The vets mixed doubles title was claimed by Brenda Plummer and Mike Maiden, with the runners-up being Pauline and Ian Barnett.

The pairing of Ian and Pauline Barnett also clinched the vintage mixed double category with the runners-up being David and Linda Pratt. In the men’s doubles, David Pratt and Roy Gazzard enjoyed a well-earned victory, having beaten stiff competition in the form of Brian Tayler and Tim Nalder.

Clevedon Lawn Tennis Club offers tennis membership to all ages and standards of play and has an extensive junior and adult coaching programme. If you are interested in finding out more about CLTC, please view the club’s website at www.clevedonltc.co.uk or e-mail@clevedonltc@btinternet.com
