The Academy of Gymnastics in Portishead were crowned British champions at this year’s Adrian Stan British Team Championships.
The Academy of Gymnastics in Portishead travelled to Surrey to compete in this year’s Adrian Stan British Team Championships, a competition that saw 42 of Great Britain’s top gymnastic teams compete against each other for the coveted title.
This was a huge accomplishment to compete in this competition, more so to have two teams competing, one junior and one senior team.
In the junior team category, gymnasts Emily Todd aged 13, Kacey Pratley (12), Ruby Walsh (12), Katie Jones (14) and Madi Morgan (11), competed several new skills and made huge improvements to take the team silver medal.
This was a huge achievement for this young team who will still be juniors next year, proving what a bright future they have.
In the senior team category, Phoebe Jakubczyk (15) and Amelie Morgan (15), fresh off the back of the European Championships, competed alongside Academy teammates Alice Sumners (13), Amelia Knight (16) and Zoe Simmons (15).
These five gymnasts wowed the judges and crowds with their confident performances to take the overall gold medal by a landslide eight points.
This also saw them achieve the highest team total across the whole weekend and therefore crowned the British team champions, taking home the shield, alongside their gold medals.
In the individual all-around competition, Amelie and Phoebe took the two top spots showing Great Britain what a force The Academy is.
