Clevedon Athletic Club runners took part in the third race of the Gloucester cross country league season.

The third fixture of the Gloucester Cross Country League season took place at Wotton-under-Edge.

It is a testing course at the best of times, but coming the day after the club’s Christmas bash made it particularly tough going.

The ladies led out facing 6.4k on an undulating muddy course. Helen Ball was first home for the club in 67th (29.48) with Paula Hall 91st (31.48) and Marie Lochrie 112th (33.44).

An extra loop faced the men taking the distance to 9.6k. Jed Bartlett had a great run and was just pipped for a podium finish coming home fourth in 32.40.

Luke Murray finished 18th (33.40) and second V40, with Clevedon new recruit Robbie Stewart 21st (33.54). Lee Southernwood’s good form continues in 46th (35.54) with Steve Wood 58th (37.07) and second V45.

Other results: Martin Hewlett 37.15, Matt Crocker 38.04, Ben Burns 38.47 Gary Lewis 39.20 , Alex Murray 39.45, Tom Abrahams 40.23, Clive Richards 40.54, Chris Davies 41.50, Jason Moss 42.58, Andy Hall 49.54.

On more solid ground, Eloise Baker had a great result at the Dartford Christmas Pudding 10k.

Eloise joined the club earlier in the year and was really pleased to achieve a personal best time and also to win her first trophy for a fantastic second lady finishing position.

Wet and windy conditions faced club members at the December Prom Run, the fourth race in the 2018-19 series.

Despite this, Luke Murray put in another strong performance for the team, winning the race in 26.54. He was followed by Steve Wood (29.07), Matt Crocker (29.49), Ben Burns (30:21), Tom Abrahams (30.54), Gary Lewis (31.14), Nathan Walpole (31.49), Alex Murray (32.31) and Chris Davies (33.07).

Jemma Lewis was first in for the ladies in 35.12, closely followed by Lara Carty (35.38), Helen Ball (35.58), Eloise Baker (36.13), Laura Croker (36.32), Donna Davies (37.43), Vicki Leckie (38.04), Paula Hall (38.35), Kerry Coombes (39.44), Andy Hall (39.48), Marie Lochrie (40.25), Nicole Morrow (40.29), Kathryn Mortimore (43.46) and Andy King (44.15).
