North Somerset's Tall Pines Golf Club presented a cheque of just under £3,000 to a local charity recently.

The Backwell & Nailsea Macular Support Group was the chosen charity for the past year of Jan Uhl, the outgoing captain of the ladies section.

Because of the efforts of Uhl and her members she was able to present a cheque for the sum of £2,933 to Sheila Round, of the charity, at the club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).

“Although, spanning two years of the Covid pandemic I have received tremendous support from the members of the Ladies Section during my term as Ladies Captain, typified by the sum raised for my chosen charity, the Backwell & Nailsea Macular Support Group,” Uhl told North Somerset Times.

“I had great pleasure in presenting a cheque in the sum of £2,933 to Sheila Round of the charity.”

Round added: “It was a great surprise to receive such a magnificent sum raised during such difficult times.

“I can assure everyone it will be used for the benefit of all being helped locally by the support group.”
