Gordano School student Danny Mulligan is heading for the national rowing championships after a successful season.

Gordano School Year 9 pupil Danny Mulligan is enjoying a successful season in the sport of rowing.

He joined City of Bristol Rowing Club 20 months ago and now competes at under-14 level, sometimes rowing up a year.

So far this year, he has achieved bronze in the singles at the Ghent European regatta, gold in the doubles at Eton Dorney scullery regatta, silver at the schools scullery at Eton Dorney and recently won a quad gold at the national schools championships, winning the Canterbury Cup.

Besides the top national events, Danny competes in local regattas most weekends and regularly comes home with medals.

Later this month, he will be in Nottingham for the national championships, competing in the under-14 and 15 quads.

Danny has hopes of attending a rowing college (GB) after finishing his GCSE exams.
