Gordano Valley junior archers enjoyed a successful county indoor championships.

THE junior team from Gordano Valley Archers came home from the Somerset County Archery Association’s junior indoor championships with the team trophy.

The combined score of 1,428 for the top three team archers, Connor Williams (junior captain), Matt Hudd and Vivian Davies saw them comfortably triumph over other juniors teams in the county.

The championships proved to be hugely successful for the juniors, with all members of the team picking up individual medals as winners or runners-up within their individual age and bow-style categories.

The success of the team reflects on the focus and commitment associated with the ongoing development of junior archers at the club by Paul Maines, the club’s lead coach, which now sees four of the team - Connor Williams, Vivian Davies, Hannah Cole and Erin Hollington, participating in ArcheryGB’s national Talent Development Programme.

Gordano Valley Archers shoot at the Downs School in Wraxall, with beginners courses taking place most Sunday mornings. Anyone interested in learning to shoot under the guidance of the qualified coaching team can contact Paul Maines on 07933 481287 or email
