IT was a depleted team of Clevedon swimmers who travelled to Horfield with the realistic expectation of a tough evening ahead.

But once again the team pulled together and did themselves proud to enable the club, who are sponsored by Bristol Hotspring Limited, to finish in an amazing second place.

Star swimmers were Nick Bray, Joel Holdaway and Natasha Hawley and a special mention should go to Charlie Goss and Lewis Cocking, who joined the team to save the day.

Charlie didn’t have much gala experience, and Lewis had only joined the club a couple of weeks earlier. They should be very proud of themselves for showing great team spirit and swimming their socks off.

New personal best times were set by Lucy Barratt, Nick Bray, Lewis Cocking, Elena Crossan, Megan Finnie, Olivia Finnie, Laura Hearn, Sam Hodge, Joel Holdaway, Robert Jones, Peter Kearsley (2), Bridie King, George Leaman (2), Joel Lomax, Erika Mason, George Symonds and Florence Tayler.

Individual race winners were Megan Finnie (2), Robert Jones, Laura Hearn, George Leaman (2) and Erika Mason.

Members of winning relay teams were Laura Hearn (2), Erika Mason (2), Natasha Hawley (2), Megan Finnie (2), Kirsty Cornish, Florence Tayler, Keziah Douglas and Emily Sturdy.

Final scores on the night were: Soundwell 262, Clevedon 218, Henleaze/Bishopsworth 195, Bristol Central 192, Bristol North 121 and Bristol Penguins 95.
