Runners compete in a variety of terrain and distance

Clevedon Athletic Club members have been busy in a variety of distances and terrain recently.

Races were in full swing last week with Clevedon Athletic Club runners competing in a variety of distances and terrain.

Paul Green travelled to Yeovilton to take part in the Easter Bunny 10k. Paul ran well despite heavy rain the previous days flooding most of the course.

The final round of the Burnham Winter 5k Esplanade Series took place in clear, calm conditions producing great results. Congratulations to Steve Wood third place 18.23, Jen Bishop first lady 18.47 and Laura Meech second lady 19.30. Also Gary Lewis 18.55, Tom Abrahams 19.40, Nigel Charman 20.14, Sally Richards 23.03.

Prizes were also awarded for the final series positions and congratulations go to Steve Wood, first male overall and to Tom Abrahams, first male in the 20-39 category.

Jason Lammie took part in the multi-terrain 11k Railway River Run. The race starts at the Avon Valley Railway at Bitton and goes out along the Bristol to Bath Railway path and open countryside. Congratulations to Jason on his eighth place position.

Back on the roads, three members ran in the 35th Taunton Half Marathon, which saw an increased number of participants this year after race cancellations due to snow.

Stuart Heath had a great run, 1.32.23, knocking several minutes off his personal best time. Other results: Sally Richards 1.46.42 and Kerry Coombes 1.58.11.
