IN STICKY conditions, Yatton completed a double over Stroud in a typical mid table tussle.

Yatton came out of the blocks the brightest and capitalised on a couple of infringements to go 6-0 in front, courtesy of two George Osborne penalties.

Stroud began to settle down, however, and scored a ninth minute penalty, coupled with a converted try under the posts through Lex Brooks on the quarter hour.

As the first half progressed, Yatton began to weather the storm and two further infringements by the visitors allowed Osborne to convert penalties to restore Yattons’ lead to 12-10 at half-time.

Yatton began the second half the brightest. However, the home side failed to add to their slender lead with two penalty attempts just missing. Stroud scored a converted try in the corner, giving the visitors a five point cushion.

Yatton were allowed back into the contest and two penalties by Osborne gave the home side a narrow 18-17 win.
