The Nailsea & Backwell under-12 squad played host to Weston Hornets and Bridgwater Albion in a double-header on Sunday.

Conditions on the day were very challenging, with gale force winds from Storm Freya and driving rain making it difficult for all.

The first game with Hornets was well contested, but Nailsea & Backwell unfortunately came out on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline.

Hornets then got the better of Bridgwater 5-3 in a traditional arm wrestle between the fierce rivals.

And Nailsea & Backwell finished second best to Bridgwater in the final match of the day, struggling to keep their structure and composure in the face of a lot of pressure and suffering a 9-2 defeat.

Home tries were scored by George W and Liam and a Nailsea & Backwell club spokesperson said: “All three teams showed some good skills and will have learnt from the experience.”
